Still playing around with this. I like that I can change the overall site skin because there's a "tropospherical purple" version and purple always trumps red. All day long.

Anyone else gonna try dreamwidthin' it up a bit?

No ads is nice, by the way. This could be the beginning of..dare I say it...a FRESH START!

Also: despite Dreamwidth having no similar communities to the ones I follow, the site features are way better than LJ. LET'S CONVINCE EVERYONE TO JOIN US HERE. D:

Yeah, the main problem with this site, and the reason why I think most people refuse to move, is because of the really inactive communities here. Fandom is muuuuch bigger on LJ, and with comms like ONTD having no interest in moving to Dreamwidth, there honestly probably won't be the humongous mass exodus that we're hoping for. (Also I'm seeing a lot of people get really snappy and defensive when others try to convince them to change, but I think that's true for any issue, haha.)

But y'know what? Maybe in the past, having less fandom stuff on DW would have bothered me, but now, to be honest, I'm glad to be on a site with less distractions. I hate how much time I sometimes spend doing stupid stuff on LJ. It would sometimes seriously cut into any productivity time I had planned for the evening. So now, to have this Dreamwidth account, where I can read just the entries of the friends who followed me here, and where if I do follow a community it won't be clogging up my flist with new posts every hour...well, it feels nice, to be honest!

Unfortunately most people are probably too afraid to let go of their favorite communities...so some of our favorite LJ users may not migrate over here. :( Well, with you and Rei here at least, I'm good for now! Has Squeedge expressed any interest in getting one?

Apparently, DW is working on a way to import entire communities from LJ and set them up here, including all back history (including posts and comments). That's a pretty big deal. I hope they can get that going, because if they can I think a lot of people WILL come over. Which would be awesome because the more I read about LJ the more I never want to use the site again.

I wasn't heavily involved on LJ anymore, but I do follow a lot of image-posting communities and I'll miss those. Mostly I'll miss my bone collecting community. ;w; anima skeleton keeper people are so neat.

I'll still check LJ for a while but I think I'll get bored of it eventually. :/

In any case, I too am very excited for a fresh start.
